Food Safety competence is fundamental in enabling employees to deliver high quality food to customers safely. It is also a legal requirement for food handlers to receive training within 3 months of employment. The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations, 1995 states “The proprietor of a food business shall ensure that food handlers engaged in the food business are supervised and instructed and / or trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity”.

The new CIEH Level 1 awards in food safety are run as half-day courses, suitable for a variety of candidates, including new employees with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge, employees handling low-risk or wrapped food or those who work front of house, such as waiting or check out staff, as well as back of house such as kitchen porters or warehouse staff.

The new CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering qualification covers the latest legislation, good practice and learning standards from the UK’s leading provider in food safety vocational qualifications. This is applicable for anyone who even makes a sandwich.

The objective of the course is to provide the delegate with the knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements of safe food handling.
